  • About the Park Naming Contest

  • Delaware County is holding a naming contest for the new county park located on the grounds of the former Don Guanella School in Marple Township. The theme of the park will be “Community, In Nature”, a welcoming and inclusive facility. The 213-acre park will preserve about 173 acres of forest and provide a community hub for recreation on about 40 acres. This will include trails, social gathering areas, an iconic pavilion, play areas, a great lawn with recreation facilities, two acre BMX area, restrooms, parking, and attention to access via pedestrians, public transit, and non-motorized vehicles.

  • Rules

    1. Submissions must be by a Delaware County resident.
    2. Submissions must be received by Halloween, October 31, 2023, at 5:00 PM.
    3. Only one (1) submission per resident.
    4. No vulgar, crude, religious, or political submissions will be considered.
    5. Winner will be awarded $250.
    6. County Council will choose the winner from submissions based upon the naming polices of Delaware County and the goals of the contest. Council is solely responsible for the final award.
    7. Winning Park Name will be placed on all park signs and used in all materials related to the park.
